I don’t know about you, but at the end of a long week, I want nothing more than to relax and catch a little buzz. Most days I keep it simple and mix vodka with flavored water. Other days I want to spice it up a bit and that’s why I made this list of the best skinny summer cocktails! It’s easy to make a refreshing low-calorie cocktail without all the added sugar and calories.
If you are trying to lose weight, regardless of what diet you are on, it’s typically recommended that you avoid alcohol. Well, that sounds like hell and anyone who can follow that, more power to ya! Not this girl! I have found a way to drink alcohol while losing or maintaining my ideal weight.
What not to drink…..
First of all, say goodbye to beer! Okay, this may be easy for me to say because I have always hated beer. Really though, you are not going to lose weight if you are drinking a six-pack every time you want to catch a buzz. You will most likely gain weight if anything.
Another reason you may have a hard time losing weight when drinking is because drinking makes you eat like crap! This may be harder for some than others, but you NEED to avoid drunk eating if you are trying to lose weight. Not only do you consume way too many calories, but you will feel like complete shit the next day. You may also feel the need to eat like shit the next day because you have a hangover. If I have a few drinks at night I don’t necessarily spring out of bed the next morning, but I try what I can to avoid a hangover. The best way to do this is to stay hydrated! You can also have a glass of water between each alcoholic drink. This is especially important when day drinking in the sun!
