Shred Fat by Building Muscle
I have learned so much over the last couple of years about exercise and I’m so excited to share it with you! I have learned how to gain lean sexy muscle, lose fat, and keep it off, boost my metabolism, and increase my energy levels. My workouts are simple and effective and can be done from home in 30-60 minutes a day.
Up until about 4 years ago, I never worked out on a regular basis. My kids were young, I always felt stressed, I was eating like crap way more than I should, I was feeling sluggish and tired, and I was not happy with my body anymore. When we are in our teens and twenties we just carry weight differently. Once we get to our thirties, things start to sag and it’s not cute. I realized if I didn’t start exercising, no matter how skinny I was, things were gonna go south!
Even though I now had the motivation to workout I still had no idea what the hell I was doing. I started by walking on the treadmill for 30 minutes a day. Okay, that’s great and all, but walking on the treadmill, even if you do it 2 hours a day, is not going to change the shape of your body. Don’t get me wrong, if you are completely new to exercise this is not a bad place to start. It may even help you lose a little weight, but it will not change the structure of your body.
My Experience with the Gym
After stalking 1000 different women on Instagram I learned that in order to have the body I wanted I would have to build muscle. I decided to start going to the gym. I hated it. The extra drive in the morning sucked. I hated talking to people while I was trying to work out and I’m way too nice to ignore people or not engage in a conversation when they are talking to me. I also had to listen to this fricken awful head-banging music, and share equipment. No thanks!!
This is when I learned about Beachbody workouts. I saw an ad on Instagram and responded to it. Long story short I signed up to be a coach and I thought this was my ticket to being a “work from home mom” and I was gonna do big things. I gave it my all and I was starting to move up in the company. My team was growing and I was loving the group of girls I had formed on Facebook.
After a couple of years, I realized this was not for me. I hated cold messaging people and I was just not enjoying it. There are Beachbody coaches out there that are complete rockstars, but it just wasn’t my thing. I feel the need to share this information because I want to be completely open and honest with you and I don’t want you to think I’m just another Beachbody coach trying to recruit you. Nope, not at all! Ther are things I loved about Beachbody, but recruiting other coaches was not one of them!
Although I decided to back down a bit from coaching, there were 2 aspects of Beachbody that I LOVED!!
1. Their Workout Programs!!
I became obsessed with these programs and I have tried so many of them! I started out with the 21 Day Fix and I saw amazing results! I was feeling lean and stronger than I ever had in my life and I never had to leave my house!!! I set up a small area in my basement and got started with just a couple of sets of light dumbbells.
Since then I have completed several other programs and I now do a mixture of all of my favorites. I have learned how to build lean muscle, burn fat, and boost my metabolism by working out 30-60 minutes a day. This is one part of Beachbody that I love to share! I love having a video to follow, so I know I’m doing the moves right and working the right muscles on the right days. There are calendars for every program, along with nutrition plans if you need help there.
Beachbody offers Beachbody On-Demand, which is like a Netflix for workouts. There are SO many to choose from and there is something for everyone! Several times a year new programs come out, so you never get bored and you never stop seeing results! My husband and I both use Beachbody On-Demand daily and we love it!
It’s also super affordable! $99 for the entire year!!! Yes, that’s it! Compare that to a gym membership. Not only do you get the workouts, but you have a personal trainer in each video guiding you throughout the workout. If you are struggling at any point there is almost always someone doing a modification of the move, so you can work your way up if you need to.

You need minimal equipment to get started. As I said, I started with 2 sets of dumbbells. I purchased items along the way for different programs, but nothing is crazy-expensive. The most expensive equipment we bought was dumbbells. They get pricey as you go up in size, but you don’t have to buy them all at once. As you get stronger you can buy heavier.

2. The Support
My other favorite part of Beachbody is the community. I have had several groups in the past and it’s so motivating and inspiring to share your journey with others. Some of the girls in my group I have known forever and others I just met on social media. We are a mix of sizes, fitness levels, and backgrounds. I love to share my daily workout and my strengths and struggles.
When we just start incorporating exercise into our lives it can be overwhelming. You will have good days and bad days and definitely days you feel like giving up. THIS is what my group is for! I want to be there to support you when you are struggling and celebrate with you when you reach your goals! Having a support system is so important for the long haul. These programs are tough and will push you to your limits, so it’s good to see how others are pushing through with you.
